Dear Families!
Happy Friday! It has been a wonderful week in our classroom, and we are so proud of the hard work and curiosity the children have shown. As we head into a well-deserved break, here are some important updates and a peek at what is coming next!
Wrapping Up: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
We have officially finished our Reduce, Reuse, Recycle study! The children had an amazing time learning how to become champions for our planet. From sorting materials and creating beautiful artwork from recycled boxes to discussing how we can reduce waste in our daily lives, they truly embraced the concepts. Thank you for supporting this learning-at-home by talking with them about recycling!
Spring Break Reminder
Just a quick reminder that next week is Spring Break! > Note: Our classroom will be closed all of next week. We hope you have a safe, restful, and fun-filled week with your family. We will see you back at school the following Monday!
Coming Up Next: The Water Study
Right after Spring Break, we will dive straight into our brand-new Creative Curriculum unit: Water! Children are naturally drawn to water, whether they are jumping in puddles, watching the rain, or playing in the bathtub. In this study, we will use that natural fascination to build foundational skills in science, math, literacy, and the arts.
During this unit, we will explore:
- The characteristics of water: What does it feel, smell, and look like?
- How water changes: We will experiment with freezing, melting, and evaporating.
- Sink or float: Testing different materials to see how they interact with water.
- Where water comes from: Exploring rain, rivers, oceans, and the pipes in our homes.
- Who works with water: Learning about plumbers, marine biologists, lifeguards, and sailors.
- How water helps us: Discussing why living things need water and how we can conserve it.
A fun over-the-break activity: While you are enjoying spring break, point out water with your child! Whether it is a frozen puddle, a flowing stream, or just the water you use to boil pasta, getting them talking about water now will be a great primer for our study.

Materials Wishlist for Our Water Study!
Since we will be doing plenty of hands-on exploring at the sensory table and conducting sink-or-float experiments, we are looking for a few items to add to our classroom. If you happen to empty any of these items over Spring Break, we would love it if you could wash them out and send them in with your child when we return!
We are looking for:
- Empty plastic bottles (all sizes—water, juice, etc.)
- Plastic containers with lids (like yogurt cups, butter tubs, or takeout containers)
- Clean sponges (new or cut into smaller pieces)
- Funnels (plastic)
- Turkey basters or eye droppers
- Interesting “Sink or Float” items (corks, rubber bands, clean pebbles, or small plastic toys)
- Books about Water
Please ensure all recycled items are thoroughly washed and do not contain glass or sharp edges. Thank you so much for helping us bring this unit to life!
Have a wonderful weekend and a fantastic spring break!
Warmly,
The Preschool Team
