Happy Friday, Preschool Families!
What an incredible and unpredictable week we have shared together! Our classroom has been buzzing with high energy as we dove deep into our study of exercise, and the children have shown so much growth in understanding how their bodies move and stay healthy. From balancing and yoga poses to learning how our hearts beat faster when we run, the students have truly embraced the joy of being active.
Of course, the biggest surprise of the week was our unexpected May snow day on Wednesday! While it was certainly a shock to see the playground covered in white this late in the spring, the children handled the change in routine with wonderful flexibility. Because of that snowy detour, we have officially moved our much-anticipated Field Day to next Thursday. The excitement in the room is already building, and the kids are more than ready to get outside and show off their athletic skills.
As we look ahead to next week, we will transition to Exploration 4 of our Creative Curriculum. This phase allows us to draw important conclusions from our previous work in Exploration 3, focusing on the final elements of our exercise study. We will spend time reflecting on what we have learned about physical fitness and how we can continue to keep our bodies strong throughout the rest of the school year.
Field Day: Thursday, 5/14/2026
Next Thursday is a big day here at Coronado! Our preschoolers will be participating in our annual Field Day during the afternoon session.
It is a long-standing Coronado tradition for parents to take their children out to lunch on this special day. If you would like to participate in this tradition, please come and pick up your child at 11:00 AM and ensure they are back at school by 1:00 PM at the latest, so they don’t miss the afternoon fun.
To make this event a success, we are asking that one family member per student join us for the afternoon between 1:00 and 2:30 pm. We need your help guiding our little athletes through the various activity stations and cheering them on!
Additionally, on May 14, we are encouraging students to “Move to School” by walking, biking, or scootering to school (even if that means parking in the neighborhood and walking in). We will have granola bars to hand out to participating students. We are also having our First Annual Bike Decorating Contest! Students will be voting on the best decorated bike/scooter as one of their Field Day stations, so decorate those bikes or scooters and ride on into school! You can check in at the bike rack area by the lower playground.
Happy Mother’s Day to All Moms and Grandmas!
Fortunately, the forecast is promising a beautiful, sunny weekend ahead that is perfectly fit for celebrating all the amazing women in our lives. We want to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of our wonderful preschool moms and grandmother figures. We hope you get to enjoy the gorgeous weather and feel all the love and appreciation you deserve.
Warmly,
The Preschool Team
