The Week of 5/18

Dear Preschool Families!

We have had a wonderful week of learning and moving together as part of our ongoing Exercise Study. Throughout the week, we’ve been exploring how our bodies work and the many ways we can stay active regardless of where we are. We spent time learning that exercise can happen anywhere, from indoor obstacle courses to outdoor games of shadow tag. The children were particularly interested in how different movements help increase our strength and endurance.

We practiced various “animal” movements, such as bear crawls for core strength and frog hops for leg power, while also discussing how moving our bodies can help us express different feelings.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Ms. Tia

We would like to extend a very special thank you to Ms. Tia, who joined our classroom to introduce our preschoolers to some truly exciting dance movements! As part of our ongoing learning, the children had a wonderful time exploring the world of ballet. It was impressive to hear them practicing new vocabulary like plié and tendu as they discovered how grace and discipline are such important parts of staying active. Thank you, Ms. Tia, for sharing your wonderful talents and passion as a dance instructor with us!

Field Day Reflections

A major highlight of our week was Field Day on May 14th! It was such a joy to see the children active and smiling, and the day was a huge success. We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who supported us, helped with the activities, and cheered our preschoolers on from the sidelines. Your encouragement made the day truly special for the students.

Next Steps

Next week, we are excited to move into the next part of our Creative Curriculum, where we will focus on the different types of equipment people use to exercise. We will explore various tools, such as hand weights, yoga mats, and balance beams, to see how they help us stay fit. Our lessons will also include discussions on safety gear, such as helmets, and how certain equipment is designed to keep us safe while we play. In our discovery areas, the children will even have the chance to experiment with scales and create their own “weights” using recycled materials.

We are so proud of how hard our young learners are working to understand their health and physical abilities. Thank you for your continued support in helping them stay healthy and active.

Warmly,

The Preschool Team
