The Week of 3/16

Dear Families!

We had a fantastic week in the classroom! The children were highly engaged, and we are so proud of the curiosity they brought to our learning.

What We Learned This Week

As part of our Creative Curriculum study, we spent this week exploring Investigations 1 and 2. We had wonderful discussions about why it is so important to reduce the amount of trash we produce to help keep our earth clean and healthy. The children also loved brainstorming and testing out creative ways we can reuse items instead of just throwing them away. We explored the concept of “upcycling” – children loved brainstorming and testing out creative ways we can reuse everyday items (such as a box, to make a dollhouse or storage container), instead of just throwing them away.

Looking Ahead to Next Week

Next week, we are going to put those concepts into action! We will be thinking critically about how we can reduce and reuse everyday materials in our daily lives. We will specifically focus on:

  • Old or outgrown clothes
  • Common household items (like egg cartons, cardboard boxes, and jars)
  • Broken crayons
  • Scrap paper

You’re Invited: Unit Closing Display!

To celebrate the end of our unit, the children will showcase their learning and repurposed creations in the display cabinet. We would love for you to drop by and see their hard work!

Date: Friday, March 13th, Time: 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM, Location: Our hall display cabinet right by the main entrance.

Thank you so much for your continued support at home. Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

The Preschool Team
