Lighthearted summer
Sweet June
Tickling the world’s cheeks
With sunshine spun
From fairy song
Hugging evenings
That melt into star-filled dreams
On a soft eve
When the gentle breeze
Whispers a fragrant story
Of night blooming jasmine
In gardens still
Ivy clasps stone in a
Loving embrace
As to never let go
Holding onto the shade
As people hold onto
The treasure of
Long ago memories
Perhaps the soul has
A summer too
Where fragrant blossoms unfurl
Under the myriad of stars
On the sky’s velvet
A midsummer evening
To dream, to hope
When life breathes
With lungs fullest
And blood –
Like a drought-breaking stream –
Runs wild through the veins
Perhaps love is
Life’s fragrant June
