When we shiver on a cold mid-winter’s eve
Biting air turns our cheeks a bruised purple

When we freeze in the sudden grip of fear
We fade into pale, ghostly white

When our heads burst with anger
We burn thoughts down to ash in flaming red

When we drift on the waves of lost hope
We are washed ashore drowned in blue

When joys and luck bring a smile to someone’s face
We plant seeds of envy in a garden bitter green

When we are on lighthearted cloud nine
We sail in the vessel of joy stained gold

Our pains, our hopes and our dreams
Speak the melody of a thousand rainbows
Molten into a single sky

Brushstrokes from the same palette
On the aquarelle of humanity

Perhaps
We can just try to
Get along
