It was dream of
Tea roses brushed
Onto fine porcelain
May sunshine giggled
As clouds – puffy cheeked cherubs –
Chased one another
To the drowsy hum
Of a honeybee lullaby
The scent of lilacs
Lingered in the
Breeze and danced
Its sensual waltz
Through the orchard’s aisles
The garden had
Transformed:
An ornate jewelry
Box winding up the
Eternal tune of spring
Velvety clematis clasped
The wrist of the trellis
Like an antique bangle
Morning glories pinned
Sapphire brooches
To the breast of flower beds
Exhaling the musky,
Dark, rich loam
And as the spring dew
Scattered its translucent pearls
Across nature’s bridal veil
The garden echoed
The season’s laughter
And spring curtsied
In a fleeting moment
Of May
