A sleepy November dawn
Reached for the garden gate
Draped in a mustard
Leaf-shawl crocheted by
The crafty fingers of fall
Where messy bedheads of
Tangled mums
Peeked through the chill
Leaves rustled under the
Play of curious squirrels
The gloomy sky sighed
A tired yawn
Still wrapped in its
Fluffy cloud duvet –
Too early to wake
But the garden waterfall
Giggled with
Swift, sparkling moves
Babbling a sweet siren song
To the yellow
Leaf-boats it cuddled
Silence stretched its
Weary limbs one last time
On an autumn bed
Draped in a silk
Cobweb canopy
Then the long-awaited
Guest arrived
With graceful
Poised steps
Singing the scent
Of freshly brewed coffee
And maple syrup
Welcome, sweet
Saturday morning
