Newsletter 9/25/26

Dear Preschool Families,

We hope you’ve had a wonderful week! Our students had a fantastic time wrapping up our very first unit. They have done a wonderful job exploring our classroom space, building a sense of belonging, making new friends, and learning how to navigate big feelings, separation anxiety, and a brand-new school routine.

Important Reminders

1. After-Dismissal Building Access & Restrooms:

We love seeing families connect on the playground while waiting for older siblings to be dismissed 15 minutes later—please feel free to stay and hang out as long as you like! Please know that we always try our best to encourage children to use the restroom before dismissal. However, because we follow strict CDE Early Childhood licensing and compliance guidelines, our preschool classrooms and indoor spaces are not accessible for restroom use after dismissal.

We know unexpected moments happen! If your child urgently needs a restroom after 2:45 PM, please follow our main building visitor protocols:

  • Enter through the main entrance.
  • Stop by the main office to sign in as a visitor and grab a “Visitor” badge.
  • Accompany your child to the main hall restroom.
  • Sign out in the main office when you are finished.

These steps help us maintain important safety and accountability procedures, so we always know who is in the building during an emergency.

2. Chilly Mornings & Dangerously Cold “Blue Flag” Days:

When the weather turns chilly, here is how morning drop-off works:

  • Wait in your car: Rather than entering the building early, feel free to wait comfortably in your vehicle until 8:15 AM. At that time, simply have your child enter through their usual external door while you sign them in.

Please be at your child’s external preschool door by 8:15 AM so you can officially sign them in/drop them off for the day.

3. Clothing Donations Welcome:

As our little ones are busy learning and playing, accidents and spills can happen—sometimes requiring a few outfit changes a day! We would love to have a few extra, gently used t-shirts and loose-fitting bottoms (no leggings, please), as well as new socks and new underwear (sizes 4T–5T). Thank you so much for your generosity!

4. Late Pickup Policy:

Please remember that Jeffco Early Learning charges a $40 Late Pickup charge for students not picked up on time.

Upcoming Unit: The “Balls” Study

We are thrilled to kick off our next hands-on, project-based exploration: The Balls Study! We will use children’s natural curiosity about toys, sports, and motion to build foundational math, literacy, science, and social-emotional skills.

What We Will Explore:

  • Investigating Properties: Comparing sizes, weights, textures, and bounciness across a wide collection of balls.
  • Physics & Motion: Testing how balls move across different surfaces and experimenting with ramps and cause-and-effect.
  • Math & Literacy: Counting, sorting, measuring circumferences, charting bounce heights, and expanding vocabulary.
  • Teamwork & Growth: Strengthening gross motor coordination, sharing, and cooperative play through group games.

How Families Can Help at Home:

  • Talk and Compare: Ask questions during play like, “Which one is heavier?” or “Will this bounce higher on the sidewalk or grass?”
  • Share Memories: Talk with your child about your favorite childhood ball games or sports.
  • Contribute to Our Collection: If you have unique or interesting items (like a yarn ball, golf ball, ping-pong ball, or textured sensory balls) for our discovery center, please send them in labeled with your family name!
  • Watch & Learn: Check out this Ball Study Preschool Theme for a visual look at the hands-on math, reading, and science activities children experience during a preschool ball theme.

Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and help in keeping our little learners safe and thriving!

Warmly,

The Preschool Team
