Dear Preschool Families,
What a fun and energetic kickoff to our Balls Unit! The children had a blast this week exploring different types of balls and how they move. Their enthusiasm and curiosity have been absolutely contagious as they’ve engaged in hands-on activities. A huge thank you to everyone who was able to lend us balls! Your generosity has truly elevated our explorations and added so much to our learning experience. We’ll be sure to return them as soon as the unit concludes.
This week, we also integrated our theme by focusing on the shape Circle and exploring “balls” we can find in nature: apples! The children practiced valuable practical skills as we cut them open and identified the core, skin, and seeds.
We’ll continue to roll with the ball theme next week as we expand our understanding. We have some cool experiments lined up, where we’ll delve deeper into what balls are made of and how the materials affect their bounce. For instance, we’ll investigate rubber, foam, and plastic balls, comparing bounce heights and the methods we can use to measure them. Additionally, we’ll discuss the concepts of softness and firmness, exploring why some balls feel soft and squishy while others are hard and firm. This hands-on learning will not only enhance their understanding of physics but also encourage critical thinking and scientific inquiry.

Read-A-Thon
Coronado Families – you are knocking our socks off with the Read-A-Thon! We are SO close to our goal! With that said, if we make our goal, every student in the entire school will be invited to our Read-A-Thon Celebration, where we will have 3 bounce houses for the kids to play in. In order for your child to participate, you must fill out and sign the permission slip that is coming home today (Friday, 9/25) in your child’s take-home folder. Please send these back to school no later than Friday, October 3rd. The kids have worked so hard, and we can’t wait to celebrate with them! We appreciate all your support and active participation in our learning community! Your involvement makes a significant difference in our classroom environment, and it’s wonderful to see our students flourish.
Have a fantastic weekend, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Warm regards,
The Preschool Team
