Dear Families,
This week flew by at the speed of light! Preschoolers are doing fantastic, as they are getting used to routines and expectations – and acquiring new skills physically, academically, socially, and emotionally! They are busy learning to be more and more independent each day – mastering how to handle their backpacks, water bottles, and lunch boxes upon arrival; how to use everyday tools, such as markers, crayons, scissors (thumb to the sky!), and glue (a dab goes a long way…); and befriending new craft supplies (sequins, here we come!).
While little hands are busy, little minds also have much to process as we reinforce and apply important agreements that benefit our class community. We want everyone to make safe choices, treating everyone with kindness and care – every chance we get. They did a fantastic job during our Bus Safety Practice earlier this week, as they learned how to sit on the bus safely and keep safe when near the vehicle. Children are learning about what it means to be part of a school community and our responsibilities. We’ve also been focusing on what makes Coronado students truly special: we strive to be Safe, Responsible, and Respectful members of our school and community!
Our preschoolers are not just learning; they’re having a blast! They’re thoroughly enjoying our music and rhythm activities, and you might catch them humming the fun songs they’ve been learning. It’s heartwarming to see how their initial tears of separation have turned into genuine joy at reuniting with their friends each day.
The children also do fantastic work in the lunchroom. Carrying trays can be challenging for young students, but your littles have yet to drop a single tray so far; yay! I realize many children still enjoy bringing lunch from home. Please be mindful of the cashew and pistachio allergies we have in our class as you pack your child’s lunches and snacks. We appreciate your care and ensuring our environment is safe for everyone.
We’ve noticed an increase in health issues, such as the common cold, and we understand that some of you may have concerns about what to do when your child is sick. Please rest assured that we are taking every precaution to ensure the health and safety of all our students. I am including Jeffco’s “How Sick is Too Sick?” guidelines here, which offer helpful suggestions when deciding whether or not to keep your child home.
PTA, or Parent-Teacher Association, is a crucial part of Coronado, and we thank our dedicated team for supporting us. It would help if you considered linking your King Soopers or American Furniture Warehouse purchases to help us earn cash rewards we can use to benefit the students at Coronado Elementary. Visit the Coronado PTA site for additional information.
Enjoy the beautiful weekend,
Annie
