The Week of 5/5

Dear Preschool Families,

We had a wonderful week launching our focus on exercise! The children are thoroughly enjoying the gym setup in the classroom. It’s been great to see them learning to take turns, practice their counting skills, and also understand how to use the exercise equipment safely. We’ve been working on different types of exercises, and the children are doing a fantastic job with fun games like bowling, as well as dancing/gymnastics (thank you for the outfits, Ms. Kirsten!) and using the trampoline – thank you, Ms. Shannon, for arranging one! We are also grateful for the balance board the Chomko family has provided for us – I know many preschoolers enjoy using this as a fun activity.

We also loved making a healthy treat on Wednesday. Thank you so much for your support in providing the necessary ingredients! The children had a blast getting hands-on experience preparing a nutritious “Friendship Trail Mix” snack, and we discussed the importance of healthy eating habits alongside our exercise routines. Next week, we will make Yogurt Parfait with Fresh Fruit. Thank you to all those who signed up to donate ingredients for this yummy, healthy snack.

Next week, we will expand our knowledge of exercise by learning about the different types of fitness. We’ll explore how various activities can develop endurance, flexibility, balance, and strength. We will incorporate activities like stretching, yoga poses for balance, and fun games to build endurance.

Important Reminders:

  • Please remember that there will be no school on Monday, May 5th, due to flex testing. Please ensure you arrive on time for your scheduled testing appointment. We appreciate your cooperation in making this a smooth process.
  • Mark your calendars! Friday, May 9th, is our Field Day! The event will take place between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM

Families are invited to attend and cheer on our young athletes. We will have a variety of fun and engaging activities, including (but not limited to) relay races and obstacle courses!

Please dress your child in comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor activities. We encourage you to bring water bottles and sunscreen for your child. You are welcome to sign your child out immediately following the conclusion of Field Day.

We look forward to continuing our fun, engaging, hands-on learning journey with your children!

Sincerely,

Annie
