The Week of 5/12

Dear Preschool Families,

We hope this update finds you well and that you look forward to a beautiful, sunny weekend! I wanted to share some exciting news from our recent learning adventures.

Last week was a fantastic exploration into the world of exercise! The children enthusiastically embraced learning about the different types of movement, from stretching our bodies with flexibility exercises to building our muscles with strength activities and engaging in endurance challenges. It was wonderful to see their understanding grow as they experienced these ways to exercise and what spoke to them the most. While some children loved exercises that included running and/or skipping, many seemed to like strength training, dancing, or yoga.

Our Field Day on Friday was a resounding success! The energy and excitement were contagious as all the children participated in various fun games and activities. There were so many smiles, giggles, and moments of teamwork as they put their knowledge and thinking into action. Witnessing their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the day was truly a joy. Thank you for sending them in comfortable clothes and shoes, ready for action!

Looking ahead to next week, our learning journey continues exploring the differences between outdoor and indoor exercises. We’ll discuss the benefits of each and explore various activities we can do in both settings. This will be a great opportunity to talk about how we can stay active in different environments and during different times of the year – and how, no matter what the season/weather is, you can always find a way to exercise (soccer, skiing vs. indoor activities).

In addition to our movement focus, we will embark on an exciting journey to learn about the amazing human body! We will practice identifying, labeling, and recognizing different parts of our bodies. This hands-on exploration will help them develop a greater understanding of themselves and how their bodies work.

Finally, we are thrilled to arrange another “cooking” lesson next week! We will create a delicious and healthy “Friendship Granola” treat together again – it was such a big hit last time that your little ones keep asking for more! 🙂 This activity will not only be fun and engaging but will also provide an opportunity to talk about how different foods nourish our bodies and give us the energy we need to learn and play. We’ll emphasize the importance of choosing foods that are “good for us” positively and encouragingly.

We are so proud of our preschool students’ curiosity, enthusiasm, and participation. Thank you for your continued support in their learning journey. We look forward to another week filled with discovery, fun, and healthy adventures!

Enjoy the beautiful May days,

Annie
