Dear Families,
Spring is in the air, and with it comes a much-anticipated break! We hope you and your little ones look forward to a relaxing and joyful Spring Break. Whether planning adventures or enjoying quiet time at home, we wish you a wonderful week filled with laughter and happy memories. We will resume our regular schedule on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025!
Upon our return, we’re diving headfirst into an exciting new unit called Water! We’ll explore water’s amazing properties and discover how it plays a vital role in our lives.
Get ready for some splash-tastic fun as we:
- Investigate the properties of water: We’ll learn how water can be a liquid, solid (ice), and gas (steam), and explore concepts like floating and sinking.
- Discover where water comes from: We’ll talk about rain, rivers, oceans, and how water gets to our homes.
- Explore how water is used in our daily lives: We’ll discuss how we use water for drinking, bathing, cooking, and playing.
- Engage in hands-on water activities: We’ll have water play, experiments, and art projects to bring our learning to life.
We encourage you to continue the water exploration at home! Here are a few ideas:
- Talk about the water you see around you: in puddles, rain, or even your drinking glass.
- Do simple water experiments: try floating different objects in a bowl of water.
- Read books about water and nature.
- Take a walk and see how water is present in nature.
We need your help gathering everyday materials that we can use with water. We will need different kinds of indoor/outdoor or household items, books, and pictures related to water! They include:
- Liquid measuring cups
- Sponges
- Ice cube trays
- Books that feature water
- Games that include water/fishing/sea theme
- Beach toys
- Swim gear (for pretend swimming)
We believe this unit will be both educational and entertaining for our little learners. We are excited to see their curiosity and exploration as we delve into the wonders of water. As we study water, we will learn concepts and skills in language and literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts and technology. We will also use our thinking skills to investigate, ask questions, solve problems, make predictions, and test our ideas. At the end of the unit, we will have a unique activity to show you what we have learned.
We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready to learn after Spring Break!
Warmly,
Ms. Annie
