Dear Families,
I hope you are enjoying the sunny March days and ready for a weekend. Many students have been sick over the past couple of days, and I know it’s a relief to see their little faces smiling instead of their eyes filled with tears because they are not feeling well. It’s also hard to believe that next week is our last before spring break… Time is flying.
We will continue learning about making responsible environmental choices before wrapping our Reduce, Reuse, Recycle unit with a fun activity right before break. This past week, we’ve talked about reducing the number of items we use – including paper towels, plates, cups, etc. This upcoming week, we’ll focus on “reusing” items. We will brainstorm ways to recycle the art project (good news: there is hope for all the beautiful Refrigerator Art you want to replace with new ones!) Children will also create new, fun things (toys, decorations, and functional items) with various recycled materials.
Preschool students will create a Coronado Little Library that will live just outside Ms. Annie’s classroom to celebrate what we have learned in our Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle unit. The little library will serve the Preschool Through Fifth grade community. Many thanks to Grant Taylor and his family for donating a bookshelf to support our cause!
We will work on the bookcase on March 11th and 12th and plan to decorate it with images of your child’s favorite book and fingerprint art. If you haven’t already, please send a 3X2 inch photo (in color) of your child’s favorite book cover next Monday, March 10th.
On Friday, March 14th at 2 pm, we will open the garage doors between our two classrooms, and host a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mrs. Brown to inaugurate the new Little Library! All families are welcome to celebrate with us. Please arrive between 1:45-1:55 pm as we will start at 2 pm. Children will each have an opportunity to speak in front of the Little Library, telling the audience, “This is my favorite book because ___” as part of the ceremony. Once your child identifies their favorite book, please help them rehearse the sentence they will share that day.
Health Reminders:
We appreciate your support as you follow Jeffco’s health guidance that requires families to keep children home for 24 hours after a fever has been resolved (without fever-reducing medications), 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting and/or diarrhea, and 48 hours after the last episode of vomiting and/or diarrhea in case of norovirus. You can also find information regarding Jeffco Public Schools’ health protocols here.
Team Emily Fundraiser:
We’re so grateful for your incredible generosity in supporting Emily Hatch. Your kindness and donations are truly making a difference.
As always, we’re so thankful for your wonderful support.
Have a joyful weekend!
Warmly,
Annie
