We have officially wrapped up our Buildings unit! It has been wonderful watching the children become architects and engineers over the past few weeks. They loved learning about the different types of buildings that make up our world, from skyscrapers to houses.

To celebrate the end of the study, we have combined the two preschool classes for a fun learning activity. The students worked together to build a joint classroom community using various materials found right here in our rooms. It was a great opportunity for them to practice collaboration, planning, and creativity on a large scale.

Rolling into Our New Unit: Wheels!

Next week, we are excited to begin our new Creative Curriculum study: Wheels.

Children are naturally fascinated by things that move. In this unit, we will harness that curiosity to explore physics and engineering concepts appropriate for their age. Over the coming weeks, we will:

• Investigate how wheels work and what makes them roll (studying axles and ramps).
• Categorize different types of vehicles and machines that use wheels.
• Explore “who” uses wheels (from community helpers to people who use wheelchairs for mobility, for example).
• Experiment with making our own rolling structures.

Valentine’s Day Celebration

We will be holding our small classroom celebration on Thursday, February 12th, from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM.

To ensure the card exchange goes smoothly, please review the following:

• Please provide 16 valentines for your child to hand out.
• DO NOT write names on the individual envelopes (no “To: ___ “). It is very difficult for preschoolers to match names to specific boxes. You can have your child sign their own name in the “From” section, but please keep the “To” section blank.
• Please send your child to school with a shoebox (or a similar size) to collect their valentines. We encourage them to decorate it at home!
• We welcome volunteers – thank you so much if you have signed up to make the end of the day super special!
