The Week of 2/10

Dear Families,

This week, the anticipation of spring was definitely in the air, and the joy of the season was reflected in the beaming smiles of our preschoolers as we delved into the world of wheels! Their enthusiasm was adorable as they recalled various vehicles they had seen. (By the way, I had no idea we had so many preschool families with Lamborghinis – you’re doing a great job keeping those hidden! :D)

This week, students engaged in explorations and improve their preschool math skills, especially counting (wheels, etc.) and matching quantities to numbers. Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue building skills and practicing recording numbers – a skill your preschooler might also be able to practice at home. As we continue building early literacy skills with letter-sound awareness and other activities, we will also practice transferring our thoughts onto paper using symbols and letters. Although next week will be short, the children will continue our unit by exploring all the different types of wheels. We will enrich our learning with a rich vocabulary that includes words like tire, thread, transport, rolling pin, pizza cutter, etc.

As a gentle reminder, our conferences are scheduled for next week. I want to express my gratitude to those who have signed up. You can view your slot here. Conferences are an excellent opportunity to connect in partnership, set goals for the remainder of the school year, and ask/answer questions about your child’s social-emotional and academic growth, preschool, next steps, and/or kindergarten readiness. I look forward to seeing you during your time slot on the 12th or 13th of February! Although you are welcome to bring your child, that is not necessary. However, please arrange for younger siblings so your preschooler can be in the spotlight at this event, and remember to be prompt in attendance. Thank you for understanding!

Our Family Partnership CD Art Project on February 13th is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a community. We would greatly appreciate volunteers who could join us on the 13th to help bring this project to life. Your involvement is invaluable, and we’d love to have you between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. We will open our garage door so you can work with a small group of students to decorate the CDs. These will then be connected to create an artistic chandelier for both classrooms. It’s going to be a blast!

We will also celebrate Valentine’s Day that day. Children are encouraged to bring a decorated medium-sized box (a shoe box or something similar) to put their Valentines in. We ask each family to bring/send in 16 unlabeled Valentines that students will hand out in the morning.

I am sure you already know there is no school on Friday, February 14th, due to a Teacher Work Day. The following Monday is Presidents’ Day.

Don’t forget that you can still purchase cookie dough here. All the money raised will go towards the Science Fair and Family Science Night on April 10th! The link to order cookie dough will close at 9:00 pm on Sunday, February 9th. We need all payments (check, cash, or Square invoices paid) by 3:00 on Monday, February 10th. As always, thank you for your continued support!

Finally, school hours for preschool are 8:15 am-2:45 pm.  Before 8:15 am and after 2:45 pm, our team prepares for our day, sanitizes our materials, and plans for upcoming units.  Once doors close upon arrival and after dismissal, preparing and planning begin!  These are protected times that help us be ready for our preschool learners.  Therefore, doors will not open before 8:15 am or after 2:45 pm.  If your child forgets something, let it be until the next day.  If your child needs to use the bathroom, please go to the front doors of the building, ring into the office, and use the public bathrooms in the school’s main hallway. Thank you for understanding our need for this time to prepare for our day!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kindly,

Annie
