The Week of 12/9

Dear Families,

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Weston, our newest preschool member, who joined us this past week! Welcome to our classroom community; we are so happy to have you with us!

Our preschoolers have been buzzing with excitement this week as we continued to explore our Clothes unit. Their enthusiasm and curiosity have been a joy to experience. We’ve learned about different types of clothing, from uniforms to functional attire, and the children’s fascination with tutu skirts was a delightful highlight. Some even asked to revisit that part of the book multiple times!

We’ve also had insightful discussions about the importance of washing clothes and what the steps might look like. The children are learning to be independent. If you need a little helper, don’t hesitate to ask them why it’s critical to sort clothing into white vs. colored. We’ve also introduced them to the concept of a laundromat, expanding their vocabulary. Feel free to ask them what ‘detergent’ means – I’m sure they’ll be thrilled to explain it to you.

Next week, we’ll continue our exploration of where clothes come from. We’ll delve into essential concepts such as ‘clothing stores,’ ‘thrift stores,’ and ‘donations.’ Speaking of which, I want to take a moment to express how proud I am of our preschool community. The ongoing children’s clothes donation drive, right outside our classrooms in the hallway, is a testament to our collective spirit of generosity and care. I want to extend a special thank you to Kirsten for her hard work in organizing this drive. Your efforts are truly appreciated!

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Charlie’s family, who significantly impacted our preschool this week. Their visit was a true highlight, as they organized and delivered a wonderful learning lesson to our students, who had the opportunity to make special holiday treats! The joy on the children’s faces as they enjoyed the treats they had made was a sight to behold. Wade, Ashley, and Harper, your contribution has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for helping our preschoolers create such a fun (and delicious!) experience!

Finally, we want to remind everyone that preschool registration for the 2025-26 school year is now open! We encourage you to visit https://www.jeffcopublicschools.org/enroll to register your child for the upcoming school year. Your active participation in our school community is what makes it so special.
