Dear Preschool Families,
What a fantastic and engaging week we had digging into our unit on trees! The children showed so much curiosity and excitement as we explored the world right outside our windows. Learning about trees went wonderfully, especially when we talked about special trees, like those in an orchard. We discussed where different fruits come from and how much care those trees require, which really sparked their imaginations.
This week was also full of memorable experiences! It was so great to see how much the children enjoyed our field trip to see Goodnight Moon. They were mesmerized by the performance and loved seeing the beloved story come to life on stage. We want to extend a huge thank you to all our families for your amazing support this week, especially for helping make the field trip successful.
Looking Ahead: Gratitude and Growth
Next week, we’ll continue our exploration of trees by shifting our focus to conservation and learning about all the different ways we use trees in our daily lives. This is a great way to introduce early concepts of respecting the environment and natural resources.
Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, we’ll also spend time talking about gratitude. We’ll be focusing on what it means to be thankful for our friends, families, and community through stories, crafts, and special activities.
A Quick Important Note (Help Us Play Detective!)
As the weather cools and jackets, hats, and extra layers come out, we kindly ask that you please label all of your children’s clothing items (jackets, sweaters, etc.) with their full name. Preschoolers are wonderfully creative, but they are absolutely the least reliable witnesses when it comes to identifying whose jacket is whose! Please help us avoid a lost-and-found mystery by labeling everything. Thank you so much for your help with this!
Liam’s Legacy
Mrs. O’Hayre and her 5th grade class will begin a fundraiser called Liam’s Legacy on Monday. Liam is Mrs. O’Hayre’s nephew who unfortunately passed away in 2018 when he was just a baby. He spent many weeks in the NICU at Children’s Hospital prior to his passing. While he was here, he brought so much joy to his family and anyone who was around him. His memory continues on in so many ways, including through Liam’s Legacy.
This fundraiser will earn money for families whose babies are stuck in the NICU at Children’s Hospital this holiday season. We will use the donations to purchase gift cards for these families. We are so lucky and grateful for all we have this Thanksgiving season. Let’s rally together to help others that are going through a rough time.
The fundraiser will be a turkey feather competition. Your child’s class will get a feather-less turkey outside their classroom door on Monday. Please bring in one dollar bills beginning Monday, November 17th through next Friday, November, 21st. For every $10 dollars each class brings, they will receive a feather to put on their class’s turkey. The class with the turkey that has the most feathers by next Friday will win a movie afternoon when it is okay with their teacher! The turkey with the 2nd most will receive a free recess.
Thank you for supporting Mrs. O’Hayre’s class and Liam’s Legacy this Thanksgiving.
