The Week of 10/7

Dear Families,

What a fun week this was! Our preschoolers have been diving into the fascinating world of ball mechanics. They’ve been learning how balls bounce and roll, and next week, we will challenge them to think of creative ways to move a ball across the playground without touching, hitting, or kicking it. We’ll focus on expanding their vocabulary with words like weight, firm, ball pump, distance, farther, force, and many others. It’s a joy to witness children’s learning journey and how much they learn about physics in a fun and age-appropriate way!

This Friday, we had a blast and a delicious mango lassi prepared with the help of Ms. Deepa. She brought in all the ingredients and dedicated her time and effort to preparing this delicacy with the children, providing a fun and authentic learning experience. Thank you, Ms. Deepa! We also appreciate Ms. Amber, our acting sous chef, who did an excellent job assisting the children in the preparations. Preparing a sweet but healthy treat was also a great opportunity to learn about Deepa’s background and culture. We’re excited to continue these engaging activities that bring learning to life. Ms. Deepa’s Mango Lassi recipe is the following: (you might want to try making it; it was super healthy and delicious!)

  • 3/4 cup of chopped-up mangos (she used previously frozen mangos)
  • 1/3 cup whole milk Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons of mango pulp
  • 3 ice cubes
  • Blend it all up and enjoy!

Ms. Sarah worked hard this week to help students make good choices and reinforce good behavior. During our Second Step lessons, the children discussed communicating needs, understanding feelings, and solving problems. We are excited to observe how their language skills are growing with new words, phrases, and ways to express themselves politely and kindly.

Our much-anticipated field trip is just around the corner, and we can’t contain our excitement! If you haven’t already, please fill out and return your child’s permission slip. Also, let us know if you are interested in volunteering for the field trip. It will be an exciting day for everyone, and we can’t wait to share it with you. We’re looking forward to creating more wonderful memories with your children.

Coronado’s largest annual fundraiser, the Read-A-Thon, is ending today. Donations will be used towards the classroom’s STEM, literacy, and math programs and to fund fun school community activities throughout the school year. If you haven’t yet donated, please consider doing so at https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/login# with Coronado School Identifier: 64ecc2649f4c7

Enjoy this fall weekend,

Annie
