The Week of 10/14

Dear Families,

Preschoolers had an exhilarating week exploring the world of balls and their fascinating movements. As we wrap up this engaging unit, we’re thrilled to celebrate our newfound knowledge with a field trip to the Children’s Museum on October 16, 2024. This trip promises to blend fun and learning, providing a unique opportunity for your child to apply what they’ve learned in a real-world setting.

Many of you have signaled that you would like to participate in this fun activity and enjoy a day of fun together with your child. Please remember the following:

  • Our school bus will leave at 9:15 a.m. Your child MUST ride the bus with us on our way to the museum.
  • Please have your child wear comfortable clothing and sports shoes.
  • Remember to pack your child’s disposable (no containers or metal utensils) snacks and lunch in a small backpack they can carry on their backs, along with a refillable water bottle (no soda cans, please). If you accompany your child on this trip, you are welcome to hold onto their food/water items, as there will be no eating/drinking on the school bus.
  • If you are meeting us at the museum, please arrive by 9:40ish at the latest. The bus will come around 9:45 a.m.
  • We will play at the museum between 9:45 and 11:45 a.m. Lunch will be in a designated area between 11:45 and 12:20 p.m. The bus will pick us up at 12:30 p.m., and we will arrive back at Coronado around 1:15 p.m.
  • If you want to stay at the museum with your child after lunch and enjoy its fun activities a bit longer, you can do that! If you plan to take your child with you after lunch, please ensure you sign them out with me before leaving. Families are welcome to pick up their children early as well.

Tuesday, October 15, and Wednesday, October 16, are Fall Conferences. Remember to arrive promptly for your child’s appointment and be mindful of your time frame. You are welcome to bring your child with you, but please make arrangements for siblings outside our classroom. This is your child’s chance to shine, and I know they will delight in being the center of our attention.

Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18, are Fall Break for all Jeffco students. I hope you will enjoy these special few days with your little ones.

We’ll begin a new unit called Trees the week after fall break. You guessed it: we’d love this unit to be very hands-on. We would also love to have a small potted tree or trees (e.g., a rosemary tree, a bonsai, a palm, a pine tree, etc.) that we can observe and care for during our new unit. We are also looking for exciting products of trees to examine and use as crafts (chestnuts, acorns, etc.). Feel free to take a walk in the park together and take a zip-loc bag for all the fun things you and your child can collect together! We are also asking that you take a picture of your child in front of their favorite tree, AND take a leaf, a small branch, or a bark rubbing of the tree to bring in with their picture on Monday, October 21st.

We’ve also been eyeing several items we could use in our classroom for trees and to set up our dramatic play area around the world of camping (tied to our new unit). Some of our little friends have been playing “campsite” for a few days – imagine their joy when we transform a classroom into a campground! We welcome your ideas and both new or gently used donations. You can see our wish list on Amazon.

It’s October, and students can’t wait for our Halloween celebration! You can view our Sign Up Genius here

Finally, our class needs more wet wipes. We primarily use wet wipes to clean little hands after lunch—you’d be amazed how artistic tomato sauce can look on the small faces! 🙂 Please consider donating some wet wipes if you can.

Thank you for your unwavering support and active participation in your child’s learning journey. Whether through field trip preparations or classroom donations, your contributions are invaluable and greatly appreciated.

Enjoy the fall sunshine this weekend!

Kindly,

Annie
