In the quiet embrace of fall
I lie
Blowing bubbles of troubling
Thoughts
And watch the gentle
Sunshine
Melt them away
On the wings of
Cotton candy clouds
And the blue sky smiles at
My thoughts and giggles
At my worries
Life is just a fleeting game
Of search and find –
A hide and seek –
We rush for prizes perceived
Chase goals and paint
Still lives of gilded promises
Cry over disappointments
Never happened
Delight in the scent of
Freshly bloomed joys
Set ourselves up for
Well-fed hopes and
Ripe dreams
For the universe
Yet at the end of the day
Those are gone in a flash
Like the sound of a waterfall
And life happens when
We don’t realize it
In the tender moments
Of leaves falling
Creeks babbling and
Apples sunbathing
In the glorious smile
Of October
