Dawn
Like a blushing bride
Flashed a gentle
Smile
At us

And the sky transformed
Into a vibrant savanna
Of African lions and
Baobab trees

Where tall giraffes
Munched on the canopy
And lazy hippos
Yawned

And while the
Scorching African sun
Ruled over the
Savanna

Clouds continued
Their morning stroll
On a new day
Full of the promise
Of a waterhole to
Quench the thirst of
An elephant herd
Trudging ahead

But traffic moved
And cars shifted
Lanes

And the Monday
Morning commute
Broke the miracle

At 6:30 am
On a concrete
Highway
