Dear Preschool Families!<\/h3>

I hope you all had a wonderful week. It was a joy to see so many of you at our Water Unit Closing Celebrations. Thank you for engaging so thoughtfully in the activities the children taught you; seeing their pride in sharing their learning with you was the perfect way to wrap up our explorations.<\/span><\/p>

As we look ahead, we are excited to begin our final unit of the school year – <\/span>Exercise. <\/b>This Creative Curriculum study is an in-depth investigation where children will move beyond simple play to explore how our bodies work and why staying active is important. Throughout the unit, we will investigate specific questions such as what our bodies can do, why exercise is an amazing experience for our physical and mental well-being, what equipment people use to exercise, and where people go to stay active. We will be transforming our classroom interest areas to reflect these themes, such as turning the Block area into a stadium or the Dramatic Play area into a gym\/doctor\u2019s office. Students will participate in activities where they test their heart rates after different movements, explore the physics of different equipment in the outdoor classroom, and practice complex motor skills like balancing and coordinated jumping.<\/span><\/p>

Families can support this learning at home by incorporating movement into their daily routines and discussing the physical changes they feel when they are active. You might take a “discovery walk” and look for people exercising in your neighborhood or talk about the specific movements needed for different sports or chores. We also encourage you to use new vocabulary words with your children, such as endurance, flexibility, and coordination, to reinforce our classroom discussions.<\/span><\/p>

To make this unit a success, we are asking for your help with a few materials. Please ensure your child wears <\/span>comfortable clothing<\/b> and <\/span>sneakers<\/b> every day so they can move freely and safely. Additionally, if you have any clean, empty sports drink bottles, yoga mats you no longer use, or pictures of your family being active together, please send them in with your child next week to help us build our classroom exercise center.<\/span><\/p>
