Happy Friday, Preschool Families!<\/span>

Welcome back! It has been such a joy to see all the children\u2019s faces again after our winter break. We spent our first three days settling back into our routine, and I am happy to share that the transition has gone very smoothly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reconnecting and Reinforcing<\/h3>\n

This week was all about “resetting.” We spent time revisiting and reinforcing our classroom expectations to ensure everyone feels safe and successful. We\u2019ve had some great group discussions about <\/span>why<\/b> we make pro-social choices, for example:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Caring for our space:<\/b> Why it\u2019s important to clean up toys when we are done playing.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Mindfulness:<\/b> Being quiet and respectful during Rest Time to support our friends who are sleeping.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Community safety:<\/b> Following group expectations, such as lining up quickly to go outside and sitting together on the carpet during group time.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The children have shown wonderful growth in understanding how their individual choices help our whole classroom “family” run happily! <\/span><\/p>\n

    Looking Ahead: Academics & Our “Building” Unit<\/h3>\n

    We had a fantastic head start on our new unit this Friday afternoon, thanks to <\/span>Mr. Harry<\/b>, Jud\u2019s dad! He generously shared his professional expertise on buildings and construction with us, helping the children see the “bones” of how structures work. To top it off, he read a wonderful story that the preschoolers absolutely loved. We are so grateful to have his knowledge and kindness in our classroom!<\/span><\/p>\n

    Next week, we will continue to keep these core expectations front of mind while shifting more of our focus toward our academic goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

    We are diving deep into our <\/span>Building unit<\/b>! We will start by summarizing everything the children already know about structures and then begin exploring new questions, such as: <\/span>“What do all buildings have in common?”<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>“What materials make a building strong?” <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

    A Reminder for the Photo Request<\/h3>\n

    Please send in a <\/span>physical photo<\/b> of your home or a favorite building, if you haven\u2019t done so already. Please ensure the photo is no larger than <\/span>4×6 inches<\/b>. Seeing familiar places from their own lives helps the children connect our lessons to the real world and gives them a sense of pride in their community.<\/span><\/p>\n
