For the safety of all our students, please use designated pedestrian crosswalks when walking through the lot.<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Free Breakfast (Before school)<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Free breakfast is available to all Jeffco students, including preschoolers!<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Arrival:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Enter through the door just north of the front entrance and head directly to the cafeteria.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Requirements:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Parents must remain with their child during breakfast.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Transition:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> After eating, exit through the same door and line up outside our classroom. You will sign your child in outside the classroom door.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>Drop-Off Procedures (8:15 AM):<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Doors open at 8:15 AM, which is when staff supervision begins. We do not offer a &#8220;soft start,&#8221; so please remain with your child until doors open.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drop-off is located on the south side of the building. Please arrive a few minutes early and complete the following:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sign-In:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Sign your child in on the sheet (located on the small metal stand). This is a state requirement.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sunscreen:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Initial the sign-in sheet daily to confirm you applied sunscreen to your child before drop-off (state requirement).<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Snack Basket:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Help your child place their separate, labeled snack into the basket. Snacks cannot require refrigeration.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mondays Only:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Help your child file their Friday Folder and place their laundered bedding bin in the designated area. Bedding must be brought in a 16-quart plastic container with a lid containing crib\/toddler-sized bedding only (no twin-size bedding, please).<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>Goodbyes &amp; Separations:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Give your child a quick hug and have them line up along the wall. When the doors open, encourage them to walk into class independently. If your child struggles with separation:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Give them a quick, reassuring squeeze and encouraging words.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remind them they are safe and that you will return for them.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make your goodbye brief and exit promptly. Prolonged goodbyes often increase anxiety, and most children settle in within minutes once class begins.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>What to Bring (and What to Leave at Home):<\/i><\/b><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Daily Backpack:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Must contain a labeled water bottle (water only), and a gallon Ziploc bag with a full change of clothes (shirt, pants, underwear, socks).<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Pull-Up Support:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If your child regularly requires changing, include a labeled Ziploc with a few pull-ups (no diapers) and a pack of wipes. Do not send whole packages of pull-ups, as space is limited.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Lovey:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> One small comfort item (up to 12 inches) for nap time may stay inside their bedding container Monday through Friday.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Toys:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Please leave all toys from home at home unless requested for a special activity.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>State Prohibitions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Per Colorado state guidelines, students may <\/span><b>not<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> carry hand sanitizer, chapstick, lotion, or diaper rash cream in their backpacks.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please label <\/span><b>all<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> personal items &#8211; including clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, and bedding containers &#8211; with your child\u2019s first and last name so misplaced items find their way home!<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>Learning:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In our classroom, learning is an active, joyful adventure! We believe that <\/span><b>play is a young child\u2019s most meaningful work<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Alongside structured classroom activities, storytelling, music, and outdoor discovery, children learn best by exploring, building, creating, and experimenting through purposeful play.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To guide their natural curiosity, our program incorporates two research-backed curricula aligned with Colorado Department of Education standards:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Creative Curriculum:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> An evidence-based approach that fosters curiosity, exploration, and hands-on learning tailored to your child&#8217;s individual developmental needs.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Second Step:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum that supports growing hearts and minds by helping children build confidence, regulate emotions, practice empathy, and form lasting friendships.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>Outdoor Play:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We go outside twice daily for a total of one hour, weather permitting. Please send your child in weather-appropriate clothing and playground-safe, closed-toe shoes suitable for wood chips (no flip-flops or Crocs).\u00a0<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Snacks:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have one afternoon snack daily. Please send a quick, easy-to-open snack clearly labeled with your child&#8217;s name. Snacks must be separate from lunch boxes and cannot require refrigeration. We are unable to provide snacks if forgotten.<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Lunch (11:15 AM \u2013 11:45 AM):<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Preschoolers eat in the cafeteria.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>School Lunch:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Free hot lunch is available daily. Please mark on the sign-in sheet each morning if your child needs a school lunch.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Home Lunch:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Pack lunch and a separate lunch drink (distinct from their daily water bottle) in a labeled lunch box. <\/span><b>State law requires an ice pack inside all home lunch boxes.<\/b><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Dietary Restrictions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Please formally notify the cafeteria staff of any severe allergies or dietary restrictions.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>Nap\/Rest Time:<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Students have a daily 45-minute rest period on individual cots. All children are required to rest quietly on their cots during this time. Bedding is sent home every Friday to be laundered and returned on Monday.<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Pick-Up Procedures (2:45 PM):<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Pick-up takes place on the south side of the building (the same as drop-off). Please arrive a few minutes before 2:45 PM.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sign your child out while waiting outside. Doors open promptly at 2:45 PM.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have your photo ID ready. We will check IDs until we get to know all families.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Authorized Pickups:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We can only release students to individuals officially listed in Jeffco Connect. Notify the office and teacher in advance of any pickup changes.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Late Fees:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Coronado Preschool does not offer delayed pickup or aftercare. Jeffco Public Schools charges a late fee for delayed pickups.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>Playground Use After Dismissal:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Families are welcome to use the playground after dismissal. Please note there is <\/span><b>no staff supervision<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after school. If your child needs the restroom while playing, please use the main entrance to access the public hallway restroom.<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Illness Policy:<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Please help us keep our classroom healthy and safe and enjoyable for everyone.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please review the official <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1RcdCmU4SYXwmVhJrA3Pyk0gP0MTDClkF\/view\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How Sick is Too Sick<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> guideline followed by Jeffco to determine when your child must stay home.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reporting Absences:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If your child will be absent due to illness or personal reasons, please report it by calling the attendance line or emailing us by <\/span><b>8:30 AM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>Birthday Celebrations:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We love making your child feel special on their birthday! If you would like to send something in, please send non-food trinkets (such as small toys or individual slime packs). In accordance with the Jeffco Healthy Schools initiative, <\/span><b>no sweet treats are permitted.<\/b><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Field Trips:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to state regulations requiring specialized 5-point harness seating on buses for young children, we do not take bused field trips. However, we look forward to planning joint family activities and special events throughout the year!<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Volunteering:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We love classroom volunteers! If you would like to assist in the classroom, please email us with your day and time availability, along with the types of activities you enjoy most (such as helping with projects, reading with students, preparing materials, coordinating a holiday party, etc.).<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Emergency Contacts &amp; Medical Needs: <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please keep all phone numbers, emails and emergency contacts updated in Jeffco Connect.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Medical Action Plans:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If your child has severe allergies, asthma, or medical conditions, signed action plans and medications (EpiPens, inhalers) must be submitted directly to the school nurse prior to the first day of school.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><b><i>Potty Training Expectations:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While staff do not potty train students in the classroom, we fully support your efforts at home. If accidents happen, we will help\/guide your child to change while helping them build important self-help skills for independence. Please keep us updated on your child&#8217;s progress!<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Weather Delays &amp; Closures:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coronado Preschool follows all Jeffco Public Schools weather closures and schedule delays.<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><b><i>Communication:<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Email is the best way to reach us. We strive to respond to all emails within 24 hours. While we are happy to catch up briefly at dismissal, we cannot answer phone calls during class hours.
